Signups
Runners sign up their games and volunteers sign up for roles on the marathon's signup page, /<organization>/m/<marathon>/submit. You need an account, not membership in the organization.
Signups open and close on the dates the organizers set, see Dates and signups. Run and volunteer signups can have different windows.
Before you start
The form reads your profile: name, pronouns and channels. Set it up first; the signup page tells you if something is missing and brings you back after you save.
Run signup
One signup can hold several games. For each one:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Game | search speedrun.com and IGDB, or type it if it isn't there |
| Category, platform, release year | as on the leaderboard |
| Estimate | H:MM:SS. Type digits or use the slider (10-minute steps). The marathon may set a maximum |
| Layout | 16:9, 4:3 or other, with a note |
| Run type | single, race or coop/teams |
| Runners | other people in the run, searched by name; they need an account |
| Commentators | people you'd like on commentary, or "no commentator needed" |
| PB video | a link staff can watch, usually YouTube or a Twitch VOD |
| Incentives | optional ideas: a bid war, a choice, a goal for one donation or for the game's total |
Races and coop. In a race each runner has their own screen. In coop/teams you put runners in teams, and each team shares a screen.
People not found. Runners and commentators come from registered accounts. If someone isn't found, the form gives you a sign-in link to send them. Organization admins can add people without an account by name.
The marathon may also limit how many games each runner sends.
Volunteer signup
Pick one or more roles:
- Broadcast operator: runs the live dashboard and OBS.
- Donation moderator: approves donations before they show on stream.
- Host: presents between runs.
- Commentator: talks over runs.
Staff decide each role separately.
Availability
Both signups ask when you can be there, within the marathon's dates. Paint the hours you're free on the grid, day by day, on the marathon's clock, or turn on any day and time if it doesn't matter.
The grid is shaded by how booked each hour already is by other signups. A run that fits a quiet hour is easier to place, so if you can, offer hours that aren't dark.
Questions and notes
The organizers can add their own questions (required ones are marked). There is also a free notes field.
Drafts and editing
The form saves a draft in your browser as you type. If you leave and come back, it offers to keep or discard the draft.
After sending, you can edit while the signup window is open and the signup is pending, backup or accepted. Withdrawing works while it is pending or on backup. Editing an accepted game keeps its place in the schedule.
What happens next
Staff review the signup and decide: accepted, backup or rejected. The answer arrives in your notifications, as does the scheduling of your run. Commentators you picked get a request to accept.
